At the same time, this is the first water marble of the year for me. I try to do it whenever the mood strikes. I learned that when you get the urge to so something, especially water marble, just do it! chances are that you are in for the success!
No matter how long I am doing nail art, and if you just look at the right side of the screen, that archive goes to 2014... that is when I started to post what I was doing. I was doing the nail art years before that. What I was starting to say, no matter how long you are doing something, doesn't matter what, you can always improve, or learn the new tricks.
Same with me. I did few water marbles, some more successful than the others, but today is my first - I used top coat to get the negative space, as glitter polishes do not water marble well.
What I learned by trial and error is that you can not use any quick dry top coat. It will not allow for the spreading, and you will be in for a sea of frustration.
I picked one of the inexpensive top coats (from the stash I found when I was moving the polish room), and it worked like a charm! Top coat is by Essence.
Now, there are special water marble clear polish made for this purpose, but I do not marble enough to justify the purchase. From time to time I do show some restrain, LOL!
Now, considering that I am not really a big expert on water marble, I use the stamper to pick up the polish from the surface of the water, and wait for the decal to dry out so I can apply it on the nail. I tried the dipping my fingers, but placement was always a bit off, so this gives me a smidge of control where I want to place the water marble. For marbling, aside from the Essence top coat, I used Sally Hansen - Posh Plum + White on and Revlon - Gambling Heart.
What I learned about water marble is that your water needs to be at the room temperature, and polishes need to be newer, which means that they have more runny consistency.
While my decals were drying, I applied Dam Nail Polish - Lemon Curd. I really wanted bright yellow polish with the reflective glitters, but this one is little bit muted, more like an old gold finish rather than yellow... I do not hate it, I just wanted it brighter.
I purchased my bottle at NailStuff.ca, and it is still available. There are the links (purple) so all you need it to click to the link to get you either to the store, or to the product itself. You are still able to use my code SANJA10 for 10% off of the first order, even on the sale items.
I applied my decals over the Orly - Bonder. That is a sticky base coat, that has to be just a bit tacky, and your decals will stick like a glue. I love to share when I discover a good products. These days everything is so expensive, that we can barely afford the mistakes, and they will still happen, trust me on that one.
I hope that your day went well.
Have an amazing day everyone!
Cheers!
