I don't think I ever did zebra before, and I did not want to do just black and white design... I was actually toying with the idea of making it as a drawing on a parchment, inspired by poster in one of the rooms at work. Background has fainted map of Africa with charcoal like drawing of the zebra on the top. It would all be in earthy tones, but I didn't feel like brown... maybe next time...
I used Gosh - Milky Way as a base. I think this is one of my favourite Gosh polishes I own. it is shimmery palest, almost white grey. It looks sheer, but I only wear two thin coats here for a full coverage. This just shows how looks can be deceiving...
I used two different stamping plates to achieve this look. For a zebra design on thumb. index and pinky, I used Born Pretty BP-16. First, I stamped with Sally Hansen - Silver Sweep, then stamped again with Mundo de Unas - Black. I really liked how this looked layered, just gave it another dimension. Even though Milky way and Silver Sweep look very close color wise, they reflect light differently, and that is why you can notice silver, but it is not jumping at you.
After I have seen how this came together, I couldn't wait to use other two images. Both images (mid and ring finger) are from the same plate, and quite possible are part of the big image.
Images are on TU-010 stamping plate, and I stamped them with Mundo de Unas - Black only. Those two images are too small for double stamping, and I liked it just as they are. Personally, I think that those are my prettiest, most realistic zebra images I own. I was really excited to use them.
While stamping those two nails, I was toying with idea of doing the green grass on the bottom, but when I was done, I decided that I like it too much as is, to upset balance with any color. This monochromatic theme was pretty in simplicity, and I managed to go around without any use of white, so contrast is not as stark, but is still there.
Of course, zebra design would not be complete without my zebra ring... whole lot of the zebras here...
As always, thank you for stopping by and looking.
