Most of this type manicures using black sheer polish is somehow attached to lace, so I stayed away from it. I made my own sheer black by mixing few drops of black polish with clear polish. I did one coat, using fine brush I framed it, then stamped with Konad Special black and Uber Chic 1-01 plate. I love this optical illusion image, and was waiting forever to find right colors to use it. Wait was over, and I think this is a perfect image for this type of manicure. There was single image of squiggly line on this plate, and I used it to tie in pink - Ciate - Kiss chase with whole design. I added black studs and top coated it to complete look. I hope you like it as much as I did.
I always wanted to do this type of manicure, and I finally got guts to do it.

This one supposed to look like a tattoo with nautical twist. I am not really crazy about results... I did decals for French part - what a disaster! I used wrong clear coat (I used speed dry), they folded on me, and did not stick properly, they went all crooked... and that last bit was a reasoning behind doing them, so I can line them up... I would be better off if I just stamped them directly to my nails. Less hustle and I know that they would look better than this... Rant over. For French manicure base is Sally Hansen - White on, stamped with Tian Xin 20 and OPI - Road house blues. Anchor filled in with OPI - Golden Eye. Base for ring finger is Sally Hansen - Grey-t escape, stamped with Bundle Monster BM 510 and Road house blues. Ah well. You can't win them all. They lasted long enough for me to take picture...
Another colorful manicure, even more colorful than usual.
Where to start... Let`s do with water marble... my nemesis. I was trying for several days, and it was so bad, that not even stamping all over it could save it. I gave up, and was preparing for another manicure, and my marbling bowl was still on my table, full of water, and on the whim, I started to drop polish in. Low and behold, I actually got a bull`s eye... usually it stops growing on the third ring, but it kept going on, and I marbled, and then hesitantly plonked one nail in (I did not tape it, and was not looking toward clean up). I should do all of them, but I played safe and quit while I was ahead. There was not white undies on, but as you can tell it looks decent... Now I needed to do something with it... I recently received quite funky plate with kind of images I did not have, and I wanted to use it so badly. Plate is CZ 01. I decided to do multicolored, kaleidoscope kind of effect, and I can only hope I succeed. My pinky... well... there is so many layers there that was thickness of Chicklets. Lol. I tried different things that did not quite worked out, but I left it anyhow. Whole thing was so over the top, who will notice it, right? Good thing I don`t have to live with it. I used Sally Hansen neons for marbling - Hot Wasaby, Sunny side up, Vibrant violet, Blueberry burst, China glaze - Sun worshiper and Pure Ice - Superstar. For stamping on my index and middle finger I used Mundo de unas polishes - Lime, Sky blue, Tutti, Mexican pink, Orange over white. Every time when I wear OPI - My vampire is buff, I remember how much I love it. In the same time I think I need to by back up, but realistically, chances of me running out of it are slim to none... To me this is great alternative to white. Nice, clean slate for any nail art needs, but also great on it's own - so if you think you can't rock the white, try this. I think that would be flattering on any skin tone, at least is on mine, and I have problem finding a 'nude' that would fit the bill.
I stamped lacy flower design from CZ 07 plate, and used another OPI - Bogota blackberry. This is another polish that I love, but barely never wear... I added some glitter (why not?) and it is Sally Hansen - Strawberry shields. I think glitter just emphasize girly aspect of this manicure. Hope you like it. Today we are seeing red! I just love this Essie - A list red. I finally got brave enough to wear full red manicure. Because I really like this red, I hated to cover it up, I kept it simple and I did just accent nail. I stamped image from Uber Chic 1-02 plate with Maybelline - Bold gold. Image is really fine, and metallic polish + glare made it hard to see in the picture, but it was just right amount of it in real life. Rest of the nails called for dressing up, so I used gold striping tape to finish off the look. My images are not the best... overcast day, and bad lighting... I did not realised they are so bad until 2 days later, when I downloaded pics from my camera.
One of the challenges I participated this month had a prompt - weather... I was not painting clouds, rain or such, and I like to think outside of the box, so here is my take on it... I used bright, primary colors for this manicure that is supposedly look like a satellite infra red map image. Yellow is hot, red is hotter, and black is super hot + dry area. In conditions like this, fire ban is in effect, and is very important to keep in shade, be well hydrated and if you have to go outside, please make sure that you use some broad spectre sunscreen. We had some slightly cooler front coming in, but in this conditions, rain is not likely to happen. Likely, we can expect some thunder and lightening, which will, unfortunately, just increase fire hazard. Base for this manicure is Sally Hansen - Lightening. Isn't that just appropriate for this manicure? I sponged some red Ciate - Boudoir and black, then freehand some cooler front with Sally Hansen - Pacific blue. I even included some sunscreen in my shot. :)
Well, when I think about it, I just painted a bleak forecast in bright color... Is there a color that you love, love, love? Well, that is blue for me... and not every blue... this blue. Intense, jewel like blue.
I paired it with gold stars, as that is what this polish deserve. Polish is Nails.Inc in Barker Street. Don't you love how all the polishes from them have a street name? This crème covers in 2 easy coats, and could be a one coater, but second coat just evens it out. Pinky wears same brand, and is called - Pudding lane. Lol - how cute is that! So, this Pudding lane is pretty light blue crely, with cobalt and gold glitter in it. We kind of covered cobalt with my base, so I decided to stamp with gold, Maybelline - Bold gold. Just a straight stamping today, and image is on CZ07 plate. Wow! I have this polish for a while, and this is a first time I wore it. In a bottle looks bit unimpressive. Almost like olive-gold. On nails, in regular light looks like antique gold, which is great improvement, but step out on the sun (or just let ray of light fall upon it), and - BAM! It transforms in this glowing liquid gold... All I wanted to do is stand outside, on a sunny spot and stare at my nails! Term I was looking for was spell bounding! I ordered this polish from DRK, as they are only one that carries it. It is Jade holografico in Mystic gold. I did not wear just straight polish in years, but I was tempted... I fought temptation, and I just freehand a little bit of flowers... Isn't this just a gorgeous? I did 2 easy coats, and no top coat.
Thank you for stopping by. Anyone cares for a game of cards? No? Too bad, as I was surely winning with 4 Aces and all chips on the table and new plate from Born Pretty Store in my hands. This is last plate I got from Vivian at Born Pretty Store for review. Plate is BP63 or item #20036. For direct link to plate, please click here. Let's start with image of the plate. As in previous case, plate came in pretty, colorful envelope, with blue protective film, that was easy to remove. Look at those images. I love King's image, and I wish my nail beds are just a smidge bigger. I will try to do his image at different time regardless, but for a review I used different images... This is must for any game lover! I just used this plate, and I have few more manicures in my head for it. For this mani, I used Nails.Inc in Queen Victoria Street, as it reminded me of Casino felt on the card table...On my ring finger I reverse stamped cards, and added red/black to mimic card colors... Image on my middle finger image was bit more involved. I first put Mundo de unas black and white polish on the plate, picked up image on my stamper, then added red and gold polish. Topped with clear top coat, and when was dry, I cut it out in square shape and placed it on my nail, while second coat of green was 'tucky'. Everything was sealed with clear coat. I wanted to add another image, but reconsidered it, as I thought that it would be to crowded... so I just added nude polish (Nails.Inc - Porchester Square) on my pinky + some glitter (OPI - Pop the cork!). I like how this came together, and hope you'll like it too. So if you hurry up to Born Pretty Store website link is in green, you may be able to snatch this plate on sale for $.99, or regular $2.99, in which case you are more than welcome to use my code SHGK31 on checkout for 10% off all regular priced items!
Cheers, and let's start another game of cards. This product was sent to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own Another manicure inspired by MoYou pinup girl Raven.
Whole manicure is so out of my comfort zone, that I debated about should I even post it... I set this story in a small chapel, with stained glass windows. She is study in contrast: standing next to one of them in sober black dress with stuffy strings of old, family pearls... This is what she project from outside... but underneath all of this prime and proper girl dress, she is wearing racy stomacher of red velvet, bejeweled, with a sexy black lace... And she is as passionate as her well hidden undergarments. That is our girl - Raven. I used image from MoYou Orpheus plate (Greek Mythology 04) for stained window look, and used sheer tints to fill it in. Lace is from MoYou Bridal 07 plate. I placed half pearls for necklace, and the caviar beads for string of longer necklace... Aren't you glad that weekend is almost upon us?
To celebrate Friday, another bright manicure. I did gradient with Orly - Key Lime Twist, China Glaze - Sun Worshiper and Color club polish. Stamped image with Black Mundo de unas and DN-009. I don't know about you, but if you squint your eyes just right, it kind of looks like a fireworks... If you can't see it, no worries - it is just me being bit crazy... May is Lyme disease awareness month, and here is lots about this disease that I was not aware of, but thanks to IG nail community, I learned a lot.
Green manicure is dedicated to this wicked, shape (form) shifting bacteria which makes it so much harder to treat, but there is also some resistance and/or confusion in medical world that also delay diagnosis. I know that my manicure can't change a thing, but knowledge is power, and if I inspired just one person to educate him/herself about this wickedness, I have done my job. In my manicure I combined some different techniques, and I am really happy when I can do manicure that is simple, and does not require special tools, or even skills. Dotticure is my nemesis. My dots are never the same size, or nicely spaced around, and I kind of cashed on that in this gradient dotticure, where this was actually advantage. In taped part I used the same polishes, and even mimicked same gradient... Base polish is Sally Hansen - White on. Green polish in order from lightest to darkest: Essence - Always on my mint, Sally Hansen - Lickety-Split Lime and In Record Lime. Here is second plate from Born Pretty Store that was sent to me for review. Plate is BP-L018, item #19373. As in previous case, this one came in colorful cardstock envelope, and I think this is a great new feature Born Pretty is offering to it's clients. Not necessary everyone will buy a plate holder, and a fact that single plates are protected from scratches in attractive holder is bonus. Plate have white hard plastic backing which not only make it impossible for you to cut yourself, it also prevents it from bending. Great thing. I do have several large rectangular holders, but Born Pretty just came out with one and I have to admit that holds this plates fabulously... just in case you are looking for one Here is pic of this plate (you can also see little bit of envelope plate came in): What a great plate. Personally, I think I will use this plate as soon as cooler weather rolls in, as this plate is full of sweater designs, but I might use some of them now too, as couple of them reminds me of ethnic kind of designs common in my home land (I was born in Croatia). Size wise, they are quite generous, especially for me, as my nails are on a smaller side, but there is measurement: 20x15 mm. I will definitively do Russian dolls in reverse stamping technique, but I went in different direction today. I used Nails Inc. - Chelsea physic Garden as a base, and stamped with Maybelline - Bold Gold, image that is in top row, second to last on this plate. For unknown reason, both images reminded me of Middle East, so I played them together. I used Mundo de unas Black for feather design, that I filled in with different colors of polish, as is just craved some color. I also picked this design to show you that every dot, every fine line was perfectly picked up, which just show you quality of etching right there.
Born Pretty came long ways , they stepped up to the plate (pun not intended!) and started to offer such a great variety of designs that I want them all... You should really check them out! When you visit their store (direct link on the beginning of my post), feel free to use my 10% code SHGK31 on the checkout for all full priced items. This product was sent to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own This one is also for MoYou contest, inspired by Tara, biker girl. On index and middle finger I used Joe Fresh - Fog as a base, stamped image from Zeus plate (Greek Mythology 06) in black. I thought that image on my middle finger looks a lot as bike tire, so I added some silver for a rim? - is this how you call it on the bikes?
My ring finger gave me some grief... I ended up painting nail with Maybelline - Bold gold, stamped with black, than added some more black on the side of the zipper to give illusion of black leather jacket with metal zipper, and I also filled in with pink reveled part to show her girly shirt or scarf. My little finger was painted black and pink, then I stamped part of the open zipper in gold, and added couple studs. Zipper image is on Fairytale 13 plate. I've got my nail mail today from Born Pretty Store for review, and I could not wait a minute to use them. I think that mailman was still on my driveway when I started :D. I received 3 plates, and I will review them one at the time. Each plate came in cute cardstock envelope, with backing and blue protective film that came off easily. OK. Look this beauty. This is BP-56 or item number #19359 and you can get to this plate by clicking on direct link highlighted in green and you can use my 10% off code SHGK31 on checkout. orn pretty ships worldwide, and you should really check them out. This one looks like it is made just for me. I favor floral and curvy, soft lines, and this has it all... It can be used as individual images, full nail, it is gorgeous on it's own, but also ideal for decal making. So this is what I did with the image in top right corner. I used Sally Hansen Pink blink as a base. I used Mundo de unas black polish for the crisp lines, and then made decal using LCN - I love mint and Nails Inc. - Queen Victoria Street for leafs. I filled middle line on the petal with Essence - Break through and filled in rest with white polish. After I placed them on the nail I did add a gold stud as a center of flower, and used Sinful Colors - Pinky glitter to create 'blushed' look. This product was sent to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
