Skunk

5/26/2022

This manicure is here as an entry to a super fun prompt in a weekly challenge hosted by lovely Stephanie of Dimension Nails.
This week's prompt was Skunk. Totally unexpected, and kudos for bringing some attention to a highly unpopular animal... OK, it is not a secret why - nobody wants to be on the receiving end of the unpleasant smelling spray. That liquid is capable of causing a temporary blindness, and they aim can be very accurate to the distance of the 3m thanks to the muscles located near the scent glands.
So here is my first skunk manicure!
As a base I used super pretty Dimension Nails - Giant Anteater. This is such a lovely blue shade, that I had to wear it again to soon after the swatch. I purchased mine bottle at NailStuff.ca, Canadian source for Dimension Nails polishes.
All images used are on Lantern & Wren - Wild about you 1 stamping plate I picked up on one of the past Polish Pickups. When I started this manicure, I thought that I will have a hard time finding the image of the skunk. Funniest thing was, that I managed to find two different skunk images on that plate. I knew this plate will came in handy sometimes. LOL!
For stamping, I used Maniology - Poison to stamp the pine trees, and B. Loves Plates - B. a Black Hole for the skunk images.
This was certainly fun manicure, and nice change from all the cuddly animals we can usually see here...
Hope that you will have an amazing day.
Cheers!

Lacy hearts

5/25/2022

I never been a lace person. As s young child I developed allergic reaction to the lace on my undies, and I been shying away from it ever since. I am not saying that I do not own a lacy piece, but that I am really selective when it comes to it.
Maybe that is the reason that I feel like I am not really adequate when it comes to the lace design on my nails. Some people really do a great job, but I am never really crazy to see it on my nails.
There is an old adage that say that repetition is mother of the wisdom, I just say - practice makes perfect. I will just keep on trying until I am happy with the results.
Brilliant blue I am wearing here is by Emily de Molly - Brick is dead. I wish I knew where the name reference is coming from, but in any case this is a beautiful polish that deserved to have the dust taken off of it, and used again in a manicure.
This is my favorite shade of blue, and this one has some scattered holographic glitters and some micro flakies in it.
It is so pretty, that is real shame that I totally forgotten about it.
Images used are on the ZJoy-plus042 stamping plate I purchased from AliExpress. First I stamped the white lace then I decided to add some of those cute layered lacy hearts. Them I stamped first with pink by Esmaltes da Kelly - Kiki, then I stamped over with white, and my white of the choice was by Maniology - Bam! White.
All was topped with glossy top coat.
I could not decide if I like this combination, or should I make the ring finger the same as the other two... In the end, I decided to keep it as is, as it was the time to go to bed, and I was not sure if all would be dry enough before I go to bed. Sheet imprint was really not the look I wanted to wear to work next day.
Good thing about the long weekend is that we are already at the half of the week! LOL! Got to love that. Have yourself a wonderful day.
Cheers!

Glowing roses

Just like that, and long weekend is all gone... Back to work, but for me it is only till Friday, when I am starting with part of my holiday...
Past three days were full of the activities, and catch up work, I am afraid to think what will I do with 10 days in a row...
Today, I am wearing beautiful bright polish by Cadillacquer - Afterglow. This polish was gifted to me by super sweet Victoria from NailStuff.ca with my last order. Afterglow is part of the Spring 2022 collection, and I purchased another one from that collection, which I will show you soon.
This is such a gorgeous color, neon peach and filled with iridescent flakes that give the polish golden glow - just like the name suggests.
Picture
On the swatch above, I am wearing two coats plus top coat.
For those that do not know, I do have one time discount code SANJA10 that will save you 10% off of your purchase.
While I still have to wait for the roses in my garden to bloom, they can bloom any time on my nails. That is why I picked those rose images. I Double stamped the roses, first with peach, then with red stamping polish, while for the close up of the rose on my ring finger, I reversed the order of the stamping polish.
I really loved the way this came out, and I truly hope that you will like it too. I had to match the ring to my manicure, and I could not wait to use one of my recently purchased rose rings here.
I wish all of you great rest of the week.
Cheers!

Disappearing Dots

Hi everyone! I took a little break from the social media yesterday, as I was too busy to actually engage with them. I was outside weeding - recent rain period made everything grow, especially the weeds. My garden is not big, until you start to do something like this... then it seem to be much bigger than actually is. It does not help that I am out of shape, so this is also a great exercise. You do what you have to, and if it has double benefits, it is even better!
Then, I pulled apart the dresser I wanted to re-finish, and managed to sand it all. I wanted to put the messy part behind me. I can decide what I want to do later, and I can paint any time... Today, my body definitely can tell that there was some abuse of it yesterday! LOL!
There will be no whining any more today, I promise!
I have another bright number today. Bright colors are calling my name, and I am just answering the call.
As a base, I used super pretty 'Ard As Nails - Crunchy Leaves. Orange-red jelly base is full of color shifting flakes, and has really great formula that is fully opaque in 2 easy coats.
This polish I purchased from NailStuf.ca while ago, and every time I paint my nails with it, I remember how much I really like it. Last few times I wore the polishes not available any more, and have to tell you that is the case here too. In my defense, there is plenty of other colors to choose from...
I came across this pretty optical illusion image on Uber Chic - UC 4-03 stamping plate, and I knew that I need to use it  over this pretty polish.
Considering that my nails are really not that big, I decided to apply only a half of image on my nails, turning the direction of it, for more visual appeal.
I loved this so much, that I ended wearing this for the most of the week.
I double stamped the image first with black, then with the white, to give it more dimension.
Glossy top coat was perfect finish for this.
I used the whole image on my thumb, and you can see it little bit on the second photo.
There is so much more work planned for today, let's see if my body will cooperate.
Have yourself a wonderful weekend.
Cheers!

Green Leopard

I wanted something bold, so I picked up Color Club Nail Lacquer - Don't Be So Dra-Matte-ic. This brilliant emerald green is pulling at my heart strings, and I love seeing it on my nails. This polish belongs to their matte collection, and of course, dries to a matte finish. It looks absolutely amazing glossy, and matte, and I still can't decide if I like it more glossy or matte. On the first photo I have the glossy photo, while other two are matte.
I ended up wearing it matte for a few days.
Bold color called for the fun and bold design, so I went with leopard print.
Animal print is not very often on my nails. and when I finally do it, I can't figure out why I did not use animal print more often.
I used dotting tool apply gold and black nail polish, and I decided to apply it only on thumb, index and middle finger. I truly enjoyed wearing this really rare green leopard print on my nails.
This was also the perfect opportunity to pull out my pretty emerald ring, and wear it like this.
We are entering long weekend, and I totally looking forward to it.
Have a wonderful day.
Cheers!

Lots of Flowers

Last night I was on work related meeting after work, that run hour longer than anticipated...
That was last night, but today is my birthday! That is why for today I have a combination of the two things I love the most: purple and flowers to share with you.
While moving things around, and packing majority of my polishes in a boxes as they need to get off of the shelf for the upcoming remodel, I came across some really pretty polishes that I did not see or use in a very long time.
Beautiful purple shimmery base is one of those. This is Quo by Orly, off branch of Orly for Canadian Drugstore chain.
This bottle was part of the set, and unfortunately does not have the name, but no matter what the name is, this is one beautiful polish.
Pretty floral image is on Uber Chic - UC 3-01 stamping plate, and I colored them with different blue and green shades.
I absolutely loved how those colors look together, and I was even happier to see that my ring matches this manicure so beautifully.
Now, I do share the birthday with another lady from the nail community, and I just wanted to wish a happy birthday to both of us.
Cheers!Q

Pretty Decals

How is everyone doing these days.
For last few months I am cursed with the pinched nerve in my neck, and that takes the joy out of many things on a daily basis. I finally got to see the specialist (another one) in hope that he can relieve some of the pain and symptoms associated with my predicament. I can't wait to see him, even though I might expect discomfort for a few days after. Good thing is that I actually had booked week off of a work at the same time.
Today, I have super simple manicure that is also super fast to do, and all tools required are scissors and wet paper towel...
I started with super pretty China Glaze - TTYL. This was from their anniversary collection, which I purchased as an afterthought in a mini version. Have to say I was super pleasantly surprised by smooth and effortless application, and holographic flair is so pretty. This particular color is like a wearing a nude, but on steroids - from afar looks super neutral, and when little bit of light fells on your hand, you see the rainbow in most flattering way.
This was one of the days that I did not felt up to spend any time sitting for any period of time to decorate my nails, and lucky for me, week or so before, I received my order from Harlow and Co. and sweet Katie slipped in a little sheet of MILV-N1361 water decals. I simply cut out few decals, placed them paper side down on the wet paper towel, then after minute or so, I just slipped the decals onto the nail. All was sealed with glossy top coat. I was done in no time, and had cute little manicure to show off.
Thing is I have a little folder full of water decals and tiny stickers, but I never think of using them for the manicures. Maybe I should give it a try now and then, or just use them up for the pedicures... Summer is coming, I just may do something like that.
It is almost a middle of the week, and now we can look forward to the long weekend. Yay!
Have a wonderful day you all.
Cheers!

Ribbons on purple

I hope that everyone is OK.
Fluid nail art was not on the menu for a while, so here I am with puple-ish edition. LOL!
As usual, I made a decals on my my silicone mat using Red, Lilac and Gold. After I applied the decals, I paired them with pretty shimmery plum polish by Sally Hansen - Save the date.
This was pretty as is, but you know me... I needed to add more... I wish I took the photo before I ruined it by adding squiggly lines using black, and metallic lilac. This is becoming a story of my life, not really leaving the things alone, even when I am happy with the results.
Those added abstract ribbons turned out nothing like I envisioned them, but things like that could happen to anyone.
I can't say that I hated this, but at the same time I was not totally sold on this. On the last photo you can see that I actually did this on both hands, and wore it to work as is for couple of days.
As for the days, I am still waiting for that Spring to arrive! Yesterday we had a crazy rain storm, and then it was starting to clear out. Sadly, in the middle of the May we still did not have temperatures rise above 20*C. I know that soon enough I will cry that it is too hot, but this whole Spring is so unusual, and so confusing. Dropping temperatures are surely going to confuse our useful insects such as bees, not that we have them in abundance to begin with.
I will stop with my rant, as I do not want to rain on anyone's parade.
Wishing you lots of sunshine...
Cheers!

Lovely Paisley

5/16/2022

Last month, I participated in Picture Polish "Minimalistic" challenge. There was the list to choose from, and my choice was dry brush, even though any of those prompts looked like a lots of fun. It would be so much fun to combine few of those, so I think that hardest part was to pick just one.
Did I ever mentioned that minimal is not my strong suit - I am more like "everything extra" kind of gal. That is what made this challenge for me even harder.
I started with pretty, pale blue blue polish by Picture Polish - Surf.
I decided if I have to be minimal, I can be bright! This totally worked for me.
Using a dry brush technique, I brushed other four Picture Polish colors: Blue (cobalt blue), Korma (mustard yellow), Lime Lite (neon green) and Pinkie (neon pink).
If you are new to the nail world, dry brush technique is easy, even though it may require the learning curve. Point is to have least amount of polish on your brush, so I get as much as I can on the neck of the bottle, then I use paper towel and run my brush lightly over to remove little bit more of the polish. Then you apply on the nail whatever is left on your brush.
You can go crazy by changing the direction of the brush strokes to achieve the results of the woven fabric.
Because this was a minimal challenge, I kept this pretty simple in application of the dry brush.
This is how my entry looked.
Picture
I had to hold back, as I did not want to start adding the stuff over before I actually took the photos.
This was such a pretty base, I could not waste it. Bianka just posted her prompts for her May challenge, and I seen the prompt I knew it would be perfect over this.
Paisley is the pattern that always gives me a hard time, mostly because I have no idea what to do. I spotted the pretty paisley image on Uber Chic - UC 17-02 stamping plate, so I stamped image first with the black, then with the white.
All was topped with matte top coat, and I have to admit, this was the first time I actually loved how my paisley manicure turned out. I could not wait to share this, and it was really hard to keep this in my folder for few weeks!
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
Cheers!

Bio Seaweed Gel - Passion Fruit

5/14/2022

Hi everyone! As promised, today I have something little bit different.
I was very fortunate to receive a PR parcel from Bio Seaweed Gel (BSG in a text). They are based in Toronto (Canada) and in California (USA).
Their professional nail products are big 5 free: no Formaldehyde, toluene, BHA, DBA and camphor. There is over 500 colors in nail lacquer (or regular nail polish), gel polish and dip powders. It always excite me to try to new products, and that was case here.
I received BeBio starter kit, and it is from regular nail polish collection. This kit includes: base coat, top coat, matte top coat, 3 nail polish colors of my choice, 1 patterned nail file, 1 professional file, 100 pc lint free pads, 3 disposable pedicure kits, Un-Polished - gel mask remover that removes nail lacquer, gel polish and dip powder. I am looking forward to trying the last product.
Today I am showing off one of the three nail polishes I received from BSG BeBio nail lacquer line.
This is Passion Fruit.
Picture
Passion Fruit is electric, neon pink nail polish with beautifully smooth and easy to apply formula that was almost fully opaque in one smooth coat. On the swatch above, I am wearing 2 coats and their glossy top coat. I am totally sold on that top coat, and need few gallons of it. The best thing is that there was not shrinkage whatsoever. There is so much shrinking of the top coat in some brands that I used that I was starting to think that there is no top coat that stays put, like the moment I applied it.
It is super glossy, and gives impression of the gel top coat. It looked like I got a professional gel manicure, but it was done in the comfort of my home.
Brightness of this color is unreal, and there is no white under coat to make it brighter!
I was given a very generous limited time discount code: SANJA50 that will save you 50% off your first purchase from Bio Seaweed Gel. This offer will expire on July 31st,2022.
I wore this couple of days ago, and totally loved it. I did just a simplest, abstract add on, and you would not believe how many compliments I got on them. I think that everyone was taken by this gorgeous color just the way I was.
This is all from me today, see you tomorrow.
Cheers!

Pampas Deer

5/13/2022

Hopefully this Friday 13th will not scare you away. This used to be my lucky day while I was in College. Every exam I did on Friday 13th, I excelled at. Go figure.
Today I am back with second part of Dimension Nails swatches. This is the second shade I wanted from Argentine Pampas Collection, and I was so happy that Victoria from NailStuff.ca picked this one for me.
On the swatch below, I am wearing Pampas Deer, soft mint creme with amazing formula, and fully opaque in one smooth coat.
Here I am wearing two coats, and no top coat. Just look how glossy it dries! You know that I am not much for the pastel colors, but those two just called my name...
Picture
For those of you that do not know, I do have a discount code for NailStuff.ca, and if this is your first purchase, you can get 10% off even on the sale items when you enter SANJA10 in the box at the checkout.
It just happened that color scheme yesterday and today is so similar, totally unintentionally done.
In my fashion, I had to use the images that corelate to the name of the polish, and I had to stamp some deer.
Images used are on ZJoyplus-058 stamping plate, stamped with Hit the Bottle - Espresso Martini + From the ground up.
On the swatch, you can see how pretty this polish is glossy, but it looks amazing matte, so here is matte version of the same polish. Looks so good, I did not even want to compare it to the glossy.
Tomorrow, I will have something different, so stay tuned.
Have a great day, because it is Fri-Yay folks!
Cheers!

Giant Anteater

5/12/2022

On one of the recent sales at NailStuff.ca I picked couple of polishes, and sweet Victoria tucked couple of more in my parcel. I will show you those beauties in random order, as I love them all.
First one I am sharing with you is Giant Anteater by Dimension Nails.
This is from the latest collection named Argentine Pampas Collection, and I really liked this one and another one... My budget is limited these days, so I had to decide, and I picked this one.
Can you imagine how excited I was to see the polish I was eyeing in my parcel? I will show you that one tomorrow.
Giant Anteater is pale muted turquoise, and is so pretty in person. I absolutely adore the formula of Stephanie's creme polishes, and this one is not exception. It applies smooth like a butter, and was opaque in one coat. I always apply two coats, and swatch below shows you this pretty color in two coats, and I did not apply the top coat. It dries to a high gloss.
Picture
Isn't that color just so pretty! My swatch shows it about shade paler than it is in person.
For the first order at NailStuff.ca you can use my discount code SANJA10 to save 10% off of entire purchase.
What I love about Dimension Nails polishes that they are mainly named after animals, and Stephanie (owner) donates the percentage of the sales to the animal shelters and/or sanctuaries.
You know that I have the thing about matching the name of the polish to the first nail art I do over it, especially when I do swatches, which I did not do in a long time...
Thing is, anteater is not the animal I do have on my stamping plates - I guess it is not very popular animal. Image I used was closest to the animal that would look like anteater... I suspect this is a kiwi bird from New Zealand...
In any case, if I can't share the anteater image, at least I can share some fun facts about them.
They are related to sloths, and have only three fingers on the front extremities. Giant Anteater is the biggest of the four species, and can grow to be 6-8 feet long.
They also live relatively long - in the wild, they can leave up to 15 years, while in care of the man up to 25 years! Their tongue is about 2 feet long, and covered with sticky saliva that makes it easier to eat ants and termites. They eat exclusively ants and termites.
After this short biology lesson it is the time to see what I created here.
Image I found is on old Maniology - Polynesia BM-XL115 stamping plate.
Stamped with the brown polish, and topped with glossy top coat.
Have yourself a wonderful day.
Cheers!

Bee Cool!

5/11/2022

Bees are so cool - They work hard, and as result of their work, we do get a sweet honey, and all the fruit and vegetable we can eat... I read somewhere that if bees would disappear, we would die off within a couple of years. Sad thing about it is that due to excessive use of insecticides in agriculture to get rid of the pests, we actually influenced huge decrease of the good insects such as bees. It is amazing how fragile our ecosystem is when you put that into perspective.
Have to admit, could not hold back any more, and I needed something stronger, more saturated for the change, and super pretty Colores de Carol - Balloon Dog was just what was needed. This was Polish Pickup exclusive, and I am so glad I picked up this unique colored polish.
This may not be the best base for the delicate bee, but this is how the dice fell this time.
Images used are on CYO x Maniology - M093 stamping plate. Love all those plates created by actual users, and sometimes I wonder how the companies could not came up with the majority of the  images users like myself provided. My designs ended up on four stamping plates, even though I provided enough for four full sized plates and then some...
Even though this may not be the seasonal color, I absolutely loved the way this came out.
I hope you will have amazing rest of the week.
Cheers!

Peace offering

5/10/2022

Today, I am here with calm, peaceful look. I am extending a peace offering to all of you not just today, but always. There is too much of the suffering in the world without us contributing to it all.
I did a vertical gradient using two of the shades from Heroine NYC - Violetta + Ghost Town, and as you can see, they blended marvelously!
Then I double stamped branch image with yellow and bright green.
I loved wearing this. It was the pattern all over, but it was not in your face, even though I used four different colors here. From the distance, it looked like a solid color. This was on my nails for a whole week, I loved it so much.
Of course, I had to bring out my silver and enamel branch ring. I do not wear it very often, as the branches are snagging my clothes, but makes a perfect ring for the photo ops.
This bright green is one of the reasons I love the Spring so much, everything, is young, fresh and lush!
There is another cold front here, so we are again in the single digits, but I am counting my blessings, as I can see in the mountains there was a fresh layer of white fluffy stuff. I live in this town for 27 years, and it was never this cold this late in the season! I guess that speaks volumes about global warming and negative influence we as human race left on the only planet we can live... there is no planet B...
With that food for thought, I am bidding you good bye, and wishing you a good week.
Cheers!

Daisies

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, including mothers to be, foster mothers, step mothers, and all the pet mothers out there.
Such a beautiful Spring time we had in last week or so, that all I want is to paint floral manicures, and wear bright green...
Oh, wait! I just did that! LOL!
I absolutely love this shimmery neon green polish that was at one point part of Halloween collection by Wet'n'Wild. I always thought this shade belongs to Summer considering how bright it is. Did I told you that I totally forgot I have it, but when I was emptying my polish shelf, I came across it, tucked at the back of the top shelf...
I love painting daisies, so that is exactly what I did here. It is really nice to do a freehand manicure from time to time, just to remind myself that I can do it. All was done with nail polish, and I loved the finished look. It was too bad that there was no little daisies in the grass, they would make a cutest prop. There is still time, so you may see the daisies in my feed again in a couple of months. LOL!
The dresser I was refinishing is finally done, even though I came across the unplanned snug... I used cheap brush to apply the finishing coat of Varathane, and silly thing left behind streaks. I thought this would not bother me, but on Friday, I picked up my hand sander, and fine sanding paper, and I started lightly sanding and leveling the top of the dresser. Then I applied a coat of the paint to make sure everything is nice and leveled, and today the finishing coat goes on. I also fixed the mirror, and painted it, so I can't wait to finally see it installed on the dresser.
I am never bored at home, and I thing this goes without saying for majority of the adults.
Have yourself a wonderful day.
Cheers!
