Do you know how it is when you have idea in your head on what you want to do, but have no stamping plates to support that idea? Well, I do. When that happens, I had to dust my brushes, and subject you to some freehand of mine. This was pretty close to what I wanted, so I will try to explain my vision...
What I love the best about transitional seasons is change of color schemes. In the spring, we have color emerging everywhere, in all of the range of the rainbow, replacing the tired grey, and bring us a hope of rebirth. In the fall, colors are changing again, and once faded summer fields give a way to a rich colors of gold, and red and all the shades in between. All the promise of the spring is now here, ripe and rich harvest of juicy fruits and vegetables that will sustain us in a long, colder days to come. It is almost like nature is giving us the clues, and starts releasing the leaves off of the trees, so it would make us see all the riches left behind, harvest to be gathered, and another cycle to start.
So here I am, not really painting the apples or pumpkins, but proud oak tree (well, a small brunch off of it), with a tiny acorns, another promise that may came true come spring, but also a source of food for woodland creatures in dead of the winter. If I could, I would paint a little squirrel collecting those acorns, but my rather mediocre freehand skills would be stretched beyond its limits.
As a base I had Madam Glam - Baby Girl- one step gel polish that I applied few days ago, and over that, I applied rather generous coat of OPI - Act your Beige. Act your Beige is light nude crelly that color wise is dupe of My Vampire is Buff. Over that, I very lightly sponged some Orly - Glitz, that actually look like gold flecks of randomness...
I wanted pretty neutral base that would not distract from design, but in retrospect, I wish I did use light blue as a base, as that would give me more of the color contrast. Isn't it just amazing how hindsight is always 20/20.
everything is done freehand with acrylics and Berry Wine brush set from Winstonia.
Finished manicure I topped with Sally Hansen - Big Matte Top Coat.
Well, I will show you what I mean. This is first version of that manicure.
What I ended up doing was adding some low tones - darker green and black shadows, and surprize, surprize, I really liked how this looked in the end. More dramatic - I really do enjoy the drama.
I hope you will like it too, and that this will inspire you to enjoy the changes of the season, and not to mourn passing of the Summer.
Cheers!
