They do not have the blood, so they are pumping the filtered sea water to pump nutrients through their nervous system. What I find interesting is that they have an eye spot on end of the each arm. Their life span is 5-35 years! That is a great surprise, I really did not think they live this long.
They can regenerate the lost arms, and that is so cool - imagine if we can regenerate the lost limbs or organs. Only organ in human body that can regenerate itself is the liver - given that you are not trying to nihilate it with alcohol or drugs.
Sea stars are considered threatened species due to habitat loss and pollution. It always makes me sad when I came across yet another fact about how negatively we affect the nature.
Today, I started with Dimension Nails - Pup.
Pup is softest grey crème with smooth and creamy formula that was opaque in one cboat. On the swatch above, I am wearing two coats and no top coat. This can be such a nice alternative to white - it is light and neutral, yet it is not as stark as white can be.
If you live in Canada, NailStuff.ca can be your source for Dimension Nails, as Stephanie does not ship the regular polish to Canada. Unfortunately, this shade is sold out since I got mine. Lucky for you, Victoria did added a Notify me button, so you can get it as soon as she has the restock.
If you shop there, you are more than welcome to use my one time discount code SANJA10.
On the other hand, Stephanie makes the gel polish in the pretty much the same shades, and she is able to ship those to Canada.
What I love about this is that every month Stephanie donates the percentage of sales to animal shelters or to help conservation of the endangered species. It is nice to know that your polish purchase actually helps the nature.
Images I picked are on Creative Shop 133 stamping plate. I purchased this plate couple of years ago just for the layered images of starfish and seahorse.
Before stamping, I mixed couple of colors on my mat and applied it on the nails using the dotting tool. I wanted to create the dimensional surface, just like the one on the bottom of the sea.
Because starfish can come in different colors in nature, I tried to represent it in some of them, and for that I had help from following stamping polishes: Maniology - Sassy + Cauldron + Evil Eye; Konad - Orange Pearl; Hit the Bottle - Staring at the embers and B. Loves Plates - B. a Strawberry.
When I was done, I was pleased with the results, but for some reason, this made me think of American flag. Go figure.
I am sure grateful for the Friday, as my body was not nice to me for a while now, and every day I go to bed in great pain. I sure hope that this will eventually resolve, and that I will be able to enjoy the simplest things in life - pain free...
Have an amazing day you all!
Cheers!
