I am aware that this may not be to everybody liking, but I love this kind of colors. It is easy to like a pretty pink or blue, but this is not easy color to like or to wear. Not that something like that would stop me...
I was walking through the Mall the other day, and I noticed big Sale signs in Body Shop... Yeah I could not resist siren call of sale sign, so I walked in, and noticed some nail polish in the bin... I wanted to try those polishes in a while now, and what is better then try them for the fraction of the price. If you do not like them, at least you can console yourself that you did not spend a fortune on them.
As it turned out, I actually liked a lot what I tried. I purchased two polishes. Black one and this one.
Cindy did so well last time, I decided to give her a chance to model this one too.
Encouraged by my semi-successful use of vinyls, I actually went ahead and purchased some more.
Ones I used today are from Whats Up, and I got them on the sale - of course.
I ordered two different styles plus two stamping plates, and I also got couple of vinyl samples to try out.
For today's manicure, I combined two different styles: Knitting stitches on my index and middle finger. I decided to use them side ways just because I could.
Rest of the nails got Knit your own sweater. I kind of went wild here. I had to admit I love that buck head. It was challenging to use inside of the vinyl on my pinky - there is no place to get hold of the vinyl, and textured polish did not help, because I could not see outline of it... I used needle to poke it out before polish dries. I only made one small indent, that was not really visible in real life.
Vinlys are the reason behind my use of top coat on my swatch. I often skip it because I know that I will add some nail art on the top... For vinyl use, top coat is the must. You also have to let it dry completely. What I did was - after I applied top coat (fast drying kind, in this case Topped with love by Love, Angeline), I went to have a supper. This allowed enough time for top coat to dry, and kept me out of polish reach, so I would not rush through this... that may be my problem...
I wanted to do something different, and let it to this newbie in vinyl use to try something that will not allow me to do any fix ups if I make boo-boo...
I decided to use textured polish for this, as that made sense in my head. Having said that, if you make mistake, you can not fix it and hide behind top coat... this was tall order.
Idea was to do just a little bit of texture, so my base will be in front and center... yeah - that did not work for me - I got bit too enthusiastic, and before you know, there was more texture than my base...
Textured polish I used was Sally Hansen - Lick -O-Rich. For any vinyl/stencil use or striping tape for that manner, you have to remove them before your polish dries, as soon as you are done with a nail. That will ensure that your lines are crisp and clean, and that is the look you want to go for.
I actually liked Whats Up nail vinyls. They are firm and flexible in the same time, and they have that perfect amount of glue on them - enough to keep polish from bleeding under the edges, but not so strong that will rip out your base (that could happen if your top coat is not dry enough).
All in all, I thought those did not turned half bad for beginner like me.
I may use vinyls more often now - I think I may unlocked secret of use for myself... now I just have to order more...
Any excuse for shopping is good one.
This is it form me for today.
I hope to see you tomorrow.
Cheers!
