From time to time I came across the manicure in which some 'sugar powder' is used to give some texture to a freehand design.
It is usually done with gel polishes, but I did not have the proper gels that are used for drawing, so I done this over the regular polish and with regular polish. Result is not quite what I expected, but I will know if that is because of my lack of knowledge and/or talent, or it is just matter of the product. I have some drawing gel on my way from Born Pretty Store, and it will be really awesome to do a comparison. I just wanted to show this before I get a different product...
As a base here, I used Sinful Colors - Black on Black. I also added some radial gradient on the bottom part of the nail with white, but then I managed to cover it up with the added freehand design, so it looks like an unfortunate accident rather than the deliberate thing...
I used two different white polishes for drawing the abstract flowers, but one was not as opaque as I hoped for, while other dried too fast, so powder did not adhere well enough...
I really can't wait to try this using the gel.
'Sugar Powder" or glitter I purchased at Born Pretty Store forever ago, and promptly put it away... I covered my index finger with it for full matte, glittery sparkly and textured coverage. Wasn't that an mouthful of objectives! LOL!
To make this even more interesting and 3-Dimensional, I added some clear rhinestones.
I can hardly wait to try my hand in drawing with the gel. Regular nail polish dries too fast, not giving it enough time to work on details. That is especially evident if you do not use this technique on the regular basis. Practice makes perfect, and whatever freehand skill I ever thought I have, is pretty rusty these days...
As for the experiment itself, it was not total failure, and I am not ashamed on showing it off. I've done worse in my life, but I did better too.
I love the crisp contrast of simple black and white manicure, and I hope you will too.
Cheers!
