I did not do as many summer themed nail designs this year - summer was having strange weather pattern, and until last few weeks, it did not really feel like summer to begin with.
When tidying my nail space last week or so, I discovered I have plenty of vinyls for a gal that never use them. That prompted me to try my hand in creating summer design using nothing but above mentioned vinyls.
My base is Parrot Polish - The Lioness of Brittany. I didn't wear this one for so long, I forgot how much I like it, and how pretty The Lioness of Brittany looks on me. I have quick swatch to show you this beauty.
Here is super important tip when you use vinyls. Apply the layer of quick drying top coat on your base and make sure you gave it enough time to dry. That will prevent lifting of the base polish while removing the vinyls.
I paired this blue with another holographic stunner - Color Club - Harp on it. Harp on it is extremely beautiful silver holographic polish, and Color Club holos are something out of this world.
I used scalloped vinyls, one that I cut out myself from the big sheet with a scalloped scissors that I got for a review last year from Born Pretty Store, item #19453. After I got those scissors I went to my local craft store and purchased more in a different pattern, in notion that I will use this much more than I did...
I placed scalloped vinyls on the tips on my fingers and I applied it in the way that they would look like a waves on the ocean... Trick with this is to remove vinyls, (this alsoalso applies to any type of guards for a French tips for example) as soon as you apply second color. That will create crisp lines, and will prevent you from accidental removal/chipping after polish dries for a bit.
After that was dry, I added sun vinyl that was in a package of striping polish I purchased years back. I tried to use them way back then, but I did not know about top coat trick, or removing them as soon as I painted second color...
For sun, I used bright yellow stamping polish La Femme - Amarilo, that I applied onto sponge, and gently sponged over. I used stamping polish because I wanted really good opacity, because I decided against applying another holographic polish.
Everything is sealed with top coat. I hope you will like my simplified vinyl summer manicure, because I am on the fence with it. It is too simple...
Ah well, there is always another day...
