Ancient Egyptians held a dung beetle in a high regard, and often included it in their regalia. The dung beetles' act of rolling dung was to them similar to Sun's God - Khepri's act of rolling the sun. That was the reason why they thought of it as a sacred animal. I will not go further than that in fascinating fact of the dung beetle.
I am subscribed to Maniology - Mani X Me express kit, and this summer I received one with the green chrome powder named - Scarab Wing. That was actually what prompted me to do this manicure in the first place. This type of the product is the best over the gels, as they will give you the smoothest, best possible base for the chrome powder, as they highly reflective surface will show any imperfections.
I started with two coats of black polish, then I added a generous coat of top coat, as I wanted as smooth surface as I could. This time, I applied the powder with the brush, and I have to admit that I loved that I made less mess than with the eyeshadow applicator, and I also did not make any marks on the surface of the polish which happened when I used the eyeshadow applicator.
On middle and ring finger I applied a matte top coat over the black polish, as I planned to stamp using the powder, and for that I needed a matte surface.
Images I used are on Maniology - MXM016 + BM-S245 stamping plates. You are more than welcome to use my discount code SANJA10 when shopping Maniology.
For stamping, I used Moyra - FP.01 - Foil stamping polish in black, then using a brush, I applied the chrome powder over the stamping. Even though I did apply the matte top coat, some of the powder did stick to my base - I wonder if my matte top coat needed to dry little bit longer?
I will have to play with this little bit more...
All was topped with water based top coat by Moyra - SP. Aqua top coat.
Despite the powder sticking to the base on the stamped nails, I loved the look of this manicure.
That chrome is so gorgeous, and has a shift to blue. I included outdoor (natural light) photo that actually shows the color shift.
I hope you will like my take on the Halloween theme.
Once again, have a wonderful weekend.
Cheers!
