Weather held up, so we are safe from the fire so far.
I did this as a part of the collab on Instagram, and it was fluid art themed. I went for the different kind of fluid art...
I started with white base, and then on my mat I painted lines using following polishes:
Color Club - Montego Bae (turquoise), Youthquake (orange), Island Vibes (purple), Smashing Review (gold holographic) and Different Dimension - Dope (yellow).
I run my dotting tool through the color to "marble" those colors, and then with flat brush I kind of "pushed" into the marble to pick up the polish, then letting gravity to do its job, I let the picked up polish slowly flow off of my brush, which I slowly moved in one direction. Colors are pretty much deposited in order they are picked up, creating the interesting marble pattern.
It looked fine, even though this is a technique I seen done with gel polish. This is good because gel will not dry out on the air as regular polish will. Besides, I definitely can't call myself an expert in this techinque.
In the end, I wanted more contrast, so I added some veining using black and white polishes, and final result reminded me of geodes so much, that I gambled and added Color Club - Three Wishes - chunkier gold holographic glitter polish for the center of the geode.
I absolutely loved the look of my thumb, so I included a macro photo of it.
When my boys went this spring on a quick trip to pick some car parts, they brought me a little geode, and they even broke it up for me, so we can see how it looks inside. My son possibly seen my puzzled look when I too out that little rock that was super light, and looked like a wrinkled potato, just harder... Then I asked if that was some kind of candy... He laugh his head off!
He just grabbed the hammer and smashed it. He gave me the pieces, and said - mom, those are for your photos! My heart just grew few sizes after that...
It is amazing how such a little gesture can make your day.
I wish you a day with many small kindness to help you go through the week.
Cheers!
