It is like: "mom, where did you put my other mitten?" - like I was wearing them!
Every season I would purchase several pairs of mittens for my boys, and they would take them as soon as days are cooler, only to realize that it is not quite cold enough for the mittens... they get taken out of pockets, or left behind at school. Most of the time one is gone - where? To the place where all single mittens go to mingle... it is probably right next to the place for the single socks... let's not start with that... Some days they would made it home with 2 mittens - one theirs, and one not even close, but it was close enough for them. I often wondered if they were switched at birth...
When I discovered mittens that are tied together with the cord that goes under the jacket - well, who ever invented this was pure genius! That worked at least when they were kindergarteners, or maybe first graders.
That was the inspiration behind what I did here. I started with gorgeous Different Dimension - Uranus.
I wanted the light base, but I did not want it to be a stark white, and blue shimmer is like a frost, which is totally appropriate for the mittens.
I went full freehand here, just a friendly warning. I know that I am not the da Vinci, but I gave it the try.
This was also an opportunity to finally try the brush Mitra from Mitty Burns sent me while ago. I wanted to do something special, but was not really all that inspired, even though I did use this brush when I was painting the painting commissioned by my neighbor.
I also love when I have the item I can use for more than one thing, and having a good fine brush is always a good thing.
Brush I received is Candy 00, one of several brushes Mitty is carrying at her store, at mitty.com.au. Candy 00 is detailed brush with synthetic bristles. It is nicely balanced, and you can achieve very thin lines, but you can also use it to fill in the small areas.
Everything here was entirely done using Mitty - Candy 00 brush.
I may not be the best freehand nail artist, but I have to admit that I so much fun doing this set.
I painted everything first using the white acrylic paint, then I added color over. I wanted my colors to be vibrant against the background. After that I added the black outlines, and finished with the some white dots that are representing the snow.
All was topped with matte top coat.
Hope you will like this super simple, and colorful design.
Getting mentally ready for Monday - back to work... Enjoy your day.
Cheers!
