We know that I do not use vinyls very often... OK, I use them next to never, but that did not stop me from purchasing more of them. I wanted something simple, and I wanted to see how good I will be in application of them.
This is how it all started.
As a base I used Gosh - Venus pretty sea foam/light teal crème that applied smoothly, and one coat was almost enough. Dries to a high gloss finish.
Jade polishes are make in Brazil, and have really strong holographic effect, even though they may be on the sheer side, and need to be built up to full opacity. I have pretty collection of them, and have to start to wear them more often. Only place I have seen those were on the DRK Nails site, and I know that they moved to Amazon, but from time to time they re-open the store to sell whatever stock they have on hand. As a matter of fact, they are opened right now, with limited stock of Brazilian products, as well as their own plates that they will discontinue at very good prices, so just head up to the site and snag yourself some good deals. I know I did.
Vinyls I used are from WhatsUpNails. used here were skinny zig zag tape here. We all know that my experience with vinyls is limited to non existent, but wow! Those vinyl sheets are dream to work with. There is just enough glue on them to assure a seal, so polish would not bleed under, but in the same time, they will not rip the polish under them. I actually re-positioned those few times before I applied nail polish on the top. That is another reason why I went with tone on tone here. I did not want to worry if my colors would clash, or play nice, especially because I had not a vaguest idea where I was going with this. This also gave me a flexibility to use this as a back ground if I decided to stamp on the top...
Peel of those vinyls was smooth, and lines are crisp. Isn't that just wonderful? And that is not all - strips are long enough for me to cut them half way, so I doubled amount of the strips I got, and there is almost a hundred of them... that makes for a lots of manicures. I don't think I needed to be this frugal, but it is good to know if you have a smaller nail beds.
While doing this manicure, I was wearing my long, owl necklace, and while my polish was drying, I looked down- something just clicked in my head and decided that I can make this work. I left my index finger plain crème, and I also topped my pinky with holographic polish, so everything would look cohesive, and that was as far as I planned.
Then my necklace came to play, and I decided to use little bit more of the vinyls, and add a owl on my index finger...
Here it is how that stage looked... including the photo of the necklace.
This looked pretty good, but I was still not quite done. I freehand some feathers over the zig zag lines, and I used their design as an advantage in a placement of the feather design. For all the freehand here, I used my Winstonia - Berry Wine brushes.
I was actually pretty happy the way this ended up.
I loved the color scheme, and I did this on both of my hands. Interesting enough, I liked Cindy more, but it is so much easier to take photos this way.
Long ago, I told you that you can find inspiration anywhere, and I just shown you how simple this was.
I ended up wearing this for couple of days.
I wish you all a wonderful, easy day.
Cheers!
