I did not feel like a white lace - too bridal... or black for that matter- too common... I went with my favourite - red one. Red is racy and sexy, it is for brave and confident - red lace is for fearless!
Bright red I used is Quo by Orly - Smooch. Smooch is filled with silver flakes, and for some reason, my camera makes it lighter and brighter in color than this red is in person. Regardless, I love it. I call this one - Power red! I applied two coats for full opacity. I left it as is, only thing I added were some color shifting black studs I purchased long ago, I think at Born Pretty Store.
Sheer, glittery black is Creative Cuticle Polish - Hearts Afire. Hearts Afire is black jelly filled with multi colored holographic microglitters, and I applied one coat only. This polish levels like a dream, so there is no worry that you will end up with streaks. Two coats will give you almost a full opacity, but I wanted it to be sheer, I wanted this to look like an expensive lingerie - with addition of sexy, red lace!
Lace design is on DRK - Themes Enlaced stamping plate. Interesting fact is that I came to own this plate by chance. I ordered different plate, and received this one. I contacted DRK, and they offered me to keep this one and purchase it at steep discount, while they will send me the one that I wanted. Thing is, I used this plate more than I used one I originally wanted. This just shows that you never know. I guess I needed this one more than I knew!
For stamping, I used Born Pretty stamping polish in Red (color 5), item #22179. You can use my code SHGK31 for 10% savings on all full priced items in the store.
I also added some rhinestones over the lace, and all of the sudden, this changed into moody, almost gothic look. It always amazes me how just addition or removal of tiny item can drastically change the look.
When I did this manicure, we had power outage for several hours, so I had to relay to natural light for photos. Outage was curtesy of the lightening storm and one of the bolts striking power box in the neighbourhood. Ever since I purchased my OttLite, I never had to think about time of the day, or if I will have enough natural light to take photos. This was real eye opener how much I need my lighting for good photos. Under my lamp, I can to some degree control glare of the light against shiny surface of the nail, while I have no such control with elements...
I wish you all a wonderful and sunny day, with electricity and all commodities we are so used to.
