This is also a good day to take a little break from the swatching to post something I did just for my soul.
That is how this totally unseasonal manicure came into the play here. Last month I participated in another Instagram freehand collab hosted by a super sweet Gen IG@vernimage.
Those collaborations are great if you are willing to hone your skills, no matter what level you are.
I did make a promise to myself that I will have at least one freehand manicure a month (I had few over that goal just this month already) so I can try to build on what I have.
Theme for this collab was Gargoyles, and I was convinced that I already posted this. I was just about to delete the photos from my unposted file, wondering why I did not do it already, when I decided to double check on myself... needless to say, I am glad I did. Not that this is such a great piece of art, but it took me so long to work on the small details. With my eyesight getting worse despite the new glasses, that task is getting harder and harder.
So here I am with the look that it is totally out there, but as I said, I spent long time bent over my desk just to disregard it. I also want to see how far I got in the years, and this is easiest way...
Now to the nitty gritty.
I started with Different Dimension - Berry Cute, from the Tuti Fruti collection I had a pleasure of reviewing couple of years ago. This is lovely blue polish with pink aurora shimmers.
On middle and ring finger, I sponged some Different Dimension - Lust, to create some kind of sunrise gradient.
On thumb, index and pinky I added the Maybelline - Nighttime Noise, topper with black and indigo blue matte glitters.
I used gray scale to paint the gargoyles. Gargoyle meaning is a spout in the form of grotesque human or animal, whose purpose was to convey water from the roof and away from the walls to prevent eroding the mortar and ruining of masonry. All was painted using black and white acrylic paint, and mix of those two in different ratios.
This is my version of one, with some masonry example on the corner of the building. Now, that may not seem much, but it is plenty when you think of the scale I needed to do this on...
First photo was glossy, but I had so much trouble getting the shot without too much light reflection, that I decided to add matte top coat over middle two fingers, to make it easier to photograph.
I loved this so much, way more than I expected it to like.
I hope you are not minding this little digression from the Christmas manicures.
Have an amazing day.
Cheers!
