I did only a couple of galaxy manicures ever, so lure was too strong to ignore.
Why would I give you star or two, when I can give you the whole galaxy!
I started with beautiful A England - Jane Eyre.
Shown above is two coats of Jane Eyre, and no top coat. We don't even need to talk about the smooth application, as that goes for all A England polishes I own. Black base with purple shimmer is just too delicious!
I thought this will make a perfect base for a galaxy.
I actually remembered to take photos of most steps, so I can have a little show and tell slideshow.
1. Using coarse, small piece of sponge, I sponged some white nail polish in a rough shape of the galaxy. I used sponge to add every next layer of polish.
2. I have seen so many beautiful colorful photos from outer space of far and distant galaxies, that I tried to translate that into manicure. It is natural that my chosen galaxy would be- purple! That said, next step was A England - Crown of Thistles- my brightest shade used, and welcome addition to the color scheme.
3. I wanted to do more colors, but in the same time, I wanted them to be subtle. Best way to achieve that is to use sheer polishes, that are more like toppers, and I just had some of them laying around. First one I used was GGal - Hidden Violets Soft - pretty duochrome that require black background to came to life. color shift was between blue and purple, and I love how over the white look almost rusty, plum colored. That just added extra dimension to this manicure.
4. In the centre of the galaxy, I sponged some Color Club - Harp on it. I wanted middle to be the lightest of the shades.
5. GGal - Twisted Jealousy was another layer of gasses on the edges, and that is also one of the multichromes with really pretty green as a main color.
6. Using white polish I added random dots to represent stars and other space debris floating around the space...
7. Decided that I need more color in the center, so I added Color Club - Crystal Baller.
8. Some starbursts and meteor streaks make for a complete picture of the distant galaxy.
9. Clean up and top coat to finish this off.
I kind of liked simplicity of this manicure, and I decided that I do not need any stamping, even though I was really tempted to add some rocket ship...
I hope you will have out of this world week.
Cheers!
