Morning greets us with small frozen puddles that still contain the last of the leaves in different stages of decay... Upper layers are more visible than the ones on the top.
That is what I tried to present here, but I am not quite sure how successful I was.
I knew that for this effect I will have to do pond manicure. That is manicure in which you "sandwich" the images in between sheer or semi sheer layers of polish to create the illusion of the depth.
I used OPI - Act your beige - milky sheer polish, and I also added a layer of franken sheer blue. Franken polish is one that you make yourself by mixing different polishes and/or adding glitters. Here I just added a top coat to the drop of blue polish and mixed until I was happy with the results.
I would stamp some leaves, then I would apply layer of the milky or sheer polish, then repeated couple of times.
I finished this with matte top coat, and few strokes of the white to create the illusion of the cracks or frost...
Leaf images are on Dixie Plates - Autumn 02 which I used a lot this year. It is always nice to see that I actually use the plates that I so indiscriminately collect... I may or may not purchased one or two or six plates yesterday, taking the advantage of some really nice sales...
Stamping polishes used were: Esmaltes da Kelly - Leo + Faisca and Maniology - Poison.
Pretty accent nail is dressed up in Celestial Cosmetics - Santa, I can explain. This is another of the polishes I did not wear in a while.
All in all, even though I was not 100% happy with the outcome, I did not hate it. Love the contrast between that pretty polish on my pinky, and matte, darker frozen leaves.
I hope you will have some fun today, I surely plan to have some.
Cheers!
