Lovely Vivian from Born Pretty Store sent me four different items for review, and I will show you the first one today. This one was actually hardest to review in my opinion anyhow.
I received Born Pretty 10 ml Peel off Gel Base Coat, item #41008.
I am aware that not all of you ladies out there are open regarding gel polish - I get you, that was me year or so ago...
Personally, I am always curious and have an open mind, so I like to try different things. I do own a peel off gel polish base coat from different maker, but I wanted to see how this brand will measure up.
When my nails are on the longer side, I like to apply a coat of peel off gel base coat, and leave it as an extra support. Beauty of it is that you give your nails support, without commitment - I apply regular polish over this base, and considering how often I change my polish, that process can not be good for your nails. Exposure to all of these nail polish removers will eventually dry out your nails making them brittle and more prone to a breaks.
With base coat on, I can still use regular nail polish removers, but they will not touch my nails until I want it - until I am ready to remove it. Usually this base coat lasts me about 10-14 days, depending on how much abuse I will put my hands through.
Before applying any type of gel polish base coat, I use cotton ball soaked with alcohol, or alcohol swabs (better choice- no lint) which ever I have on hand to wipe the nail beds. This will remove any oils that may be on the surface of your nail which may interfere with the way gel would adhere to your nail.
I applied thin layer of the gel base and I cured it with my UV lamp for 60 seconds.
Consistency of this base coat is really nice. Not too thin to run on the sides and pool where should not be. It is more viscose than your regular polish, but it is not 'lumpy', it applies with ease.
Beauty of the gel polish is that it will not dry out on the air- you actually need lamp to cure it, which gives you time to work it, to work out any bubbles that may be in the gel, and you can give yourself a time to reach as close to the cuticle line you can. If you get some on the skin around nail, wipe it with the acetone before you cure it. Make sure that you capped the free edge.
After curing, this base coat will have a sticky residue.
If you plan to continue with application of the gel polish, you do not have to worry about it.
If you plan to apply regular polish over, you can easily wipe this off with alcohol.
I am showing you this on my dominant hand- Cinderella hand-, because I wanted to show you removal process, and I wanted to have it on my non dominant hand for a few days at least to see how much wear I can get out of this... I changed already three different manicures on my non dominant hand using regular acetone based nail polish remover, and gel base coat is still holding on.
For the purpose of this review, I used glitters as they are usually pain to remove, especially textured glitters. I used China Glaze - Champagne Kisses.
I wanted to see how difficult removal process would be.
To remove this Peel Off Gel Base Coat, all you need is drop of cuticle oil and orangewood stick. Removal was easy without any damage to my natural nail beds. Here it is how easy this was.
If I applied gel polish on the top, that would probably be a case, or if I waited several days to remove those glitters...
This is a product I will go back to purchase when all of the bottles I have at home are empty. Even price is wallet friendly, and that is another reason to go back to it.
This is great product for any of the nail warriors that would do many swatches, regardless if you are swatching regular or gel polish.
I am really glad that I 'discovered' another great product I can use.
There is also a discount code SHGK31 that will give you 10% off of any fully priced item.
