This tool came in a neat plastic tube to protect it from dirt and damage, and it can be reused to store the tool in between the uses.
I really wanted to try that gradient puffer sponge end - I seen it used in few tutorials, and I loved results. It also seemed easy breezy to use...which I found out was not...
I bet I can get better with practice. I have to order me some more of the replacement heads, and until I get some, I was not going to ruin this one with nail polish - oh, no! How on Earth I would practice if I have to throw it out after one use.
I went ahead, and found the replacement heads in the store, and you can get set of 5, item #41995.
For the purpose of this review, I used acrylic paint - then I washed off my sponge, so I can try this again! I clearly have to watch more tutorials with use of this puffer. I truly loved how you can achieve that air brushed look with a sponge. I think I got a hold of the technique when I did the pinky...
As a base I used Painted Polish by Lexi - Stamped in Sweet Potato, because I could use it as a regular polish and as the stamping polish. I really wanted this to work for me. I had a look in mind, so I really wanted it to work the way I have imagined it.
Photo above, just gives you a glimpse in what I was doing... even though I was clueless.
This sponge will be amazing for the radial gradient that I been avoiding all of these years, as my one attempt was less than stellar.
After creating the white blobs, I proceeded with the stamping. For stamping I used the same Stamped in Sweet Potato, and Esmaltes da Kelly - Dolly (white).
I picked swirly image from the OM-17 stamping plate, over which I applied the stamping polishes like in the pattern on my nails, but in opposite colors... I know that this explanation does not make much of the sense - I just wanted to stamp white over the brown, and brown over the white. Thanks heavens for the clear jelly stampers, that helped me in alignment of the images.
I left my ring finger without any gradient, because I wanted to use the other part of this handy dandy tool, small stamper, that can help you with isolating smaller parts of the big image, or for picking up smaller image without picking up lots of other stuff off of the plate.
Stamper is super soft and sticky, and picked up the image amazingly. Here is little photo:
I picked up snail image for the many reasons - but my biggest one is that swirl on the snail shell went so nicely with the swirly pattern on the rest of the nails.
All in all I was pretty happy with the results, and I actually let it show. :)
Top coat somewhat softened the rough edges of the gradient, and this came up exactly how I imagined it.
You know that there is a discount code SHGK31, that you can use for 10% savings on all non sale items in the store.
