Glitter came in a little jar that was also in a resalable plastic bag, just in case that jar gets broken during the transport, you will not have to open the envelope, then vacuum the glitters in months to come.
As you can see on the photos above, glitter is semi-transparent, semi glossy, yellowish in color, and in the dark it has a green glow. Glitter itself is fairly thin, and I used moistened toothpick to pick up the glitters, and apply them to the nails.
You know when you try too hard, things do not always go the way you want. That kind of happen here.
I wanted something whimsical, but this just did not go the way I planned.
Afterwards, I actually realized that I picked wrong Base color. I wanted something really subtle that will say "BAM!" once glowing in the dark, but... well, I was not really happy with it.
As a base, I used Seche Premier Color - Cunning.
I did a short video on how I make my glitter decals. I did decal on my mat, and when dry, I cut out the size using scissors, and I applied it to my ring finger. Using Cunning, I drew a pumpkin face, and I outlined it with a Born Pretty - Gold stamping polish. In retrospect, I wish I used a black polish for my Jack-o-lantern, so at least part of the design would be nice and visible in regular lighting.
On the rest of my nails, I did a glitter placement in random circular pattern, then using a small brush, I outlined the glitter placement with same Gold polish.
I topped everything with two coats of top coat, so everything was nice and smooth.
My camera does not take photos in the dark without firing the flash, so I cheated a bit, and I exposed it to the black light.
My base polish is not glow in the dark, but was glowing under black light, together with my glow in the dark glitters - which would give quite eerie feel in the darkness.
Photographs I taken under the black light are also taken under the low lighting conditions, so I apologize for the lower quality of the photos. At least you can see the glow in the dark effect - right?! This is the reason why I felt that if I used darker background, it would be easier to take those glow in the dark photos. I guess, I will chalk it up to the learning curve.
You can also use those glitters to decorate your phone or invitations for the Halloween party you will throw this year!
