I seen aurora borealis or northern lights my first year in Canada, and never ever since then. That makes me so sad, considering how happy I was to see that mother nature light show.
When I started this manicure, I did not planned to do this theme whatsoever. All I wanted to do is to try new technique for me. I seen few people done it on Instagram, and technique did not look hard, but gives such a satisfying results. Results can be so different depending on colors you choose or amount of blending you do.
For this method, I did decals - I feel this would be too messy on the nail. On all tutorials I seen, this was done either on the stamper head or on mat. I choose my mat, as I wanted to make bigger decal, one decal that will be enough for all of my nails.
I started with white nail polish - generous coat that is the size of the decal I wanted. Technique is really simple. Pick the colors you want, and then you just layer and brush over and over different polishes, mixing them with every brush stroke, until you are satisfied with results. Polishes should not dry on the mat before you add another color, if all of this makes any sense to any one of you.
Polish I used were: Ruby Wing - Clean Linen ( in lieu of white polish); Different Dimension - Prototype 40 (silver topper) + DreaMS (blue); Jior Couture - Blue Pearl (lightest blue) Sparitual - Navigate (blue); La Femme - Verde (neon green).
When this dried, I cut the decals and applied it on my nails. I choose horizontal orientation of the decals, as that was the most common way of placement...
When I placed them all I could think was aurora borealis, and I just kept the theme.
Stamping images are on Fab Ur Nails - Fab 17.
I wanted different layers of stamping to actually pop up, even though I was going for silhouette stamping...
First, I stamped all images using Hit the Bottle - Snowed in, then all the other images using A England - Natasha's Dance. That is not stamping polish per say, but does amazing job, so why not! Couple sitting back to back was stamped with Hit the Bottle - As Black As Night. I wanted them to stand up, then I had some issues with my depth perception... just messed it all up and they ended up not as visible as I wanted them to be... Big sigh...
I can always hope that I will have a pleasure of seeing this natural phenomenon in my lifetime...
Cheers!
