I am always in a mood for some speckled polishes, and I was waiting way too long for this beauty by Cirque Colors - Pistachio.
Where I came from, we have many trees that turn the leaves and change them every year. Oak, birch, basswood, poplar, beechwood, field ash, elm, chestnut, acacia, clen, linden, willow, rowan, maple and many others. For me, Autumn means colorful leaves, all the shades of gold and yellow, orange, red, even purple. You may not be ready for the change, but nature is ever changing, and seasons are true proof of it.
Oak is one of those hardwood that are aplenty, together with their nuts - acorns. They provide the nutrients for the woodland animals, but I also heard that some farmers also mix them in the feed for the pigs. In any case, I love to see them, and they always remind me of home. Another reason I like acorns is that I have a gold pedant in the shape of acorn that used to be my dad's, and I am currently wearing it around my neck.
Here is a cute redemption of those sweet nuts.
All images used are on Dixie Plates - Autumn 02 stamping plate.
I was happy how images of acorns came along, but I was in general unhappy with the leaves. I tried and layered them in several layers of the stamping, none of which I liked. At one point, I just stopped, and accepted this as is. Would I do this any differently next time? Possibly. My leaf choices were giving little to no contrast, and I was trying really hard to make it, only for the next layer to be worse as I progressed.
I am still enjoying my time off, even though I did not achieve much. I did say I would not kick myself too hard if that happens, and I am not. I am getting lots of rest, and hopefully, soon enough, this will turn to better.
Have yourself a wonderful day.
Cheers!
