Every month there is different theme, and this month it is books.
I would gladly provided you with the link to Lucky 13 Lacquer, but their site is currently under move/construction, but I hope I will be able to do that in the future.
I was sent two products : Nail polish and Top coat.
Anya (the maker) described it as: "Raven -black base with Valyrian steel (genuine silver!) micro falkies, Spectraflair linear holo, with ice-blue to kissed-by-fire red color-shifting shimmer."
Picture is worth thousand words, so here I have a macro shot of the bottle where you can see almost all above described.
Polish inspiration : "Jon Snow's tryst with Ygritte from a Song of Ice and Fired series by George R.R. Martin."
I am huge Game of Thrones fan, and I read the books long before they become fashionable. I think that I red first book about 9 years ago, and have all books in the series. There is no doubt that I watched every episode of televised series. This was another reason why I was so hyped about swatching this polish.
Let me introduce you Lucky 13 Lacquer second contribution to the March Polish Pick Up.
Elemental Ward Quick Dry Top Coat, named Sweet Wine, Sweeter Women.
It is described as: "Scented quick- dry top coat. Smells like black cherry wine and lightly floral skin between the sheets."
Even though I usually stay away of scented polishes, I did not mind this one. To me it smell like a clean sheets, fresh and sexy at the same time. I am quite fond of it.
I also learned something here: "Elemental Ward works best when applied to WET nail polish! Note: this top coat is 4-free, it contains toluene to speed drying."
I was totally unaware of this, and been using it all wrong! I guess old habits die hard. Now I totally want to go and do my nails again just to apply it over wet polish!
As with a polish, there is only 200 bottles available, priced at 5 USD.
Inspiration: Tyrion Lanister from A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin.
Now is the time to show you two of them in action.
I applied two coats of polish for full opacity, and I topped it with Elemental Ward Top Coat. Even though I used it as a regular top coat, over dry base, it still had a high gloss, it dried super fast, there was no shrinkage whatsoever and smelled incredible.
Nail art seemed to be a no brainer. If you grew up in Ned Stark household, this you heard on the daily basis: 'Winter is coming!'. I just could not let this pass without using those words. Only 'You know nothing Jon Snow' would top it, but I did not had the image, and my fine writing on my nails leaves lots to be desired. I also included one of the white walkers, as that was the evil everyone on either side of the Wall should try to defeat.
Images used are on Creative Shop 37 and Harunouta L031 stamping plates, stamped with Hit the Bottle - Snowed in and Smurf Blood.
This is one gorgeous multifaceted polish that would be nice addition to any polish or book lover collection.
*** Product used was sent to me for my honest review. All opinion is mine, based on my use of, and experience with product. Products will be available March 2-5, and use link at the top of the page, or go to polishpickup.com . ***
