As a part of another challenge, I made a manicure for this occasion, mostly done freehand.
I had this layered image in my head, and I was not sure how well I would be in trying to put it in visual imagery...
I started by applying a white base polish - Sally Hansen - Let's Snow on all of my nails.
On many rallies, I have seen a drapery in red white and blue, that would fan off in half circle on the edges of the tables or balconies, and that was the first visual image I had in my head. I just did semi-circular painting of three nails using red and blue polish, but because this was my background, I needed it to be faded, so using a sponge and white polish I dabbed some over my drapery to made it look all weathered and faded. Using the palest grey, I added some radial creasing, but my grey was way too pale, so all blended in...
Next step was writing the historical date using the black acrylic paint.
Thumb and index I painted with All Mixed Up Lacquer - I will never destash you. I wanted it to represent the sky full of sparkly fireworks.
I also wanted that same fireworks to spill over the date.
Not trusting my freehand skills, I stamped couple of fireworks images, but they kind of got lost on the background, so using a dotting tool and sparkly polishes, I added that sparkle of the fireworks... I might overdone that last part, because now I just completely obscured the date, but I was afraid to touch it up...
All in all, it did not look half bad for a freehand, and was similar enough to the mental image I had for this manicure, that I left it be.
Wishing you a wonderful day, wherever you are!
