I really love powder blue polish I used as a base. This color I always associate with vintage. Polish is Revlon - Dreamer - that is so me! Color is dreamy. Easy two coats for full opacity, and levels like a pro. I am still wearing that bright red underneath, and as you can tell, nothing is peaking through. I guess I just need to get away as far as I could from that hot, hot red - kind of to an opposite side of the color wheel.
We all know that I love feathers, so I stamped some all over. Even though peacock feathers been a rage half a century ago, and could be considered as vintage design, I purposely stayed away from them.
I started stamping big feathers on my thumbs and ring finger layering first Mundo de unas - White, then Black, and as an afterthought this foil-y metallic blue - Essie - Blue Rhapsody. This feather image is from BC-03 stamping plate.
Initially, I just wanted faded, silhouettes of the feathers on rest of the nails. Those I stamped with Blue Rhapsody... I realized too late that my color choice was too close to my background color. Looking at the image plate (MoYou London - Greek Mythology Collection 03) I got this brilliant idea, to use same hollow image over full feather image to look as outline... they were similar size and shape, so I whipped out my clear jelly stamper, and using Mundo de unas - White proceeded in outlining all the full feathers that I stamped on my nails. I liked it so much, that I picked up same hollow images in white, and stamped them over metallic blue.
As I said I am not sure if this looks vintage, but I like it. There is long time since I last did tone on tone stamping. Vintage type of design was calling for vintage type of flowers as a backdrop. My pretty, old fashioned irises are making another appearance with this manicure.
