These days you can buy it in different colors, but classic red one is still most beautiful for me.
I never attempted painting poinsettia, and I may have image of it somewhere in my stamping plate assortment, but this time I went freehand route. This is my first time ever in my life to attempt painting this flower...
As a base for my poinsettia, I used Barielle - Angel dust. Even though Angel dust is sheer, it did not bother me one bit - I covered most of it anyhow with my design, but is nice to see little flashes of that iridescent glitter.
Red polish is Essie - Shall we Chalet? perfect red in my opinion. This is the first time I ever wear it, and I am in love. On my thumb, I added layer of Angel dust over Shall we Chalet?
I also used this red for painting most of the poinsettia. I tried to do layers, like a pond manicure to create illusion of depth. I am not sure that I actually achieved it. In between layers of petals, I dabbed with the sponge little bit of Ever After - The good stuff.
For detailing I used black and green acrylic paint and small brush.
In the centre, I sprinkled some loose small gold glitter, and topped it with few white dots for a little bit of contrast.
Everything is finished with Love, Angeline - Topped with love top coat.
Even though this was not perfect, I still loved it. Considering that I had no clue what was I doing, came out fairly good. I can only get better from here.
I hope you will like this design too.
Cheers!
