I always loved dragons and stories about them, even though reason behind this escapes me to a great extent... but isn't that a common thread about things that we like? We can't always explain attraction, bit it is there, never the less.
I never ever came close to even try to freehand one of those creatures, but I finally figured - I can't really go wrong with whatever - no one alive ever seen any of them anyhow, so who can tell that dragon does not look like this ? Exactly my point. While painting a dragon, I thought why not fire breathing dragon - they are always so fierce!
I started to do quick sketch on the piece of the paper to see what could I do that would fit on my nails... first try looked awfully lot like a chicken, so it was out... second sketch was better, but I doubt it would fit on my nails, and then I just started to do a head shot, and I knew that was it! I actually remembered to take the photos as I was going along with this, so I put a quick slideshow that will show you progression... on one of those photos, I unintentionally captured my little sketch.
I proceeded freehand dragon that I intended to do only with acrylic paints, but in the end I did add some of the nail polish for more dimensional look.
First, I applied glossy top coat, but then I changed it to a matte look, as I like it better, and it made taking the photos just a little bit easier.
OK - How many of you thought this dragon would be purple? :-D hehehe.
This is probably my favourite dragon manicure I ever did, and I did few...
I hope your day will be amazing.
Take care.
Which one you like better?
