I revisited technique, this time using wrapping foil. I wanted to look like shattered mirror, and it is much thinner than bow. I also intended to cut it up in a much smaller pieces than first time.
This all looked good on paper... I even drew the shape on the back of the foil, so I can cut it up in the size that would be appropriate for the size of my nails, and everything was dandy until I took the scissors and started with cutting. Pieces I drew seem to be too tiny, and too hard to cut, so I improvised and cut slightly bigger pieces... well, that is what I thought...
Pieces I cut were too big to fit on my nail I a pattern I imagined, and I had to trim them after application... all around pain in the neck! I bet you can't even tell what I was going for!
Base for the manicure is Revlon - Iconic, deep grey crème that I did not wore in a long time. This used to be my to go winter shade. Deep and dark, but still light enough not to have gothic feel.
I wanted to make the diamond on my nails with the pieces of the foil. One side is silver, while other side have slightly bluish tinge, and I wanted to use both as a play with light and shadow, the way prisms in real diamond break the light to looks like it shines from within...
This is total fail in my book. I know I named this one 'Foil play' but ended up more like 'Foul play' - this would be funny if it isn't sad...
In the end, I tried to 'fix' my oversized chunks of the foil by drawing the line with black fine tipped Sharpie. This was almost brilliant - I said almost, because marker started to run when I applied top coat.
Idea was good, delivery was pure failure, but I might get some points on creativity.
Thank you for stopping by, and until next time, I wish you wonderful day.
