First item for review is item #27407 - Olive branch vinyl sticker. You can see photo of them in insert. They look so pretty, and holographic foil they are cut out from is just a dream.
Boy, did I ever had a plans for this baby... I even made Cindy an honorary swatcher - you know all about always the bridesmaid, never the bride thing...
In any case I overestimated my abilities with this item to a great extent. This was not a walk in the park I imagined it will be...
I wanted to use branches as pretty holo stickers as I have seen some swatches do, but when I had trouble with detaching them from the whole pattern, that was because I supposed to take big thing off first, or so I thought so... I just chalked that up to the fact that those branches are really finely cut, and that was end of it...
My troubles started off of the batch when I started removing big circles from the backing. My graceful self manage to tangle it up from the get go. Then I had trouble removing it from my nails as they would break, and I had to redo this over... All in all, I managed to ruin 4/9 big round stickers, and just two nails to show for. Yes, I only done this on one hand, as I did not have any patience to repeat my clumsy performance for the other hand.
My inexperience in use of this type of nail art tools is definitely major factor in this miss adventure.
Regardless, I really liked how this manicure eventually ended up. As you can see from photos below, I did achieve really sharp looking manicure with crisp, clean edges, like I knew what was I doing. I also though that my color choice was spot on for this manicure.
For base I used Sally Hansen - Black Heart, and with vinyls, I sponged olive green Klean Color - Metallic Green polish over. I found that is the best way when using vinyls, and you will get clean, sharp edged image left on your nails after you remove them.
Most important thing is to never forget to add a top coat before application of the vinyls. Top coat need to be dry really good, and there would not be any problems when removing them off of your nail. Removal is done as soon as you applied your desired polish over them, and that is also one of the full proof methods of having clean edges.
I am glad I picked this item to review first - it can only go better from here.
This is definitively not for a beginners. This product is aimed to experienced vinyl user, and if you want to try them I would recommend you to go and check some simpler styles preferably made out of real vinyl, rather than pretty holographic sticker. As my experience with vinyls in total is limited, form my own use - those are much more user friendly, and Born Pretty Store have loads of them. If you are bent out to try pretty holographic ones, at least try something that would have continuous pattern like a fish scales or the ones that are having pattern radiating towards the center. That will make them easier to use and apply, because pieces will not try to overlap and tangle up while you try to apply them on your nails, and will be easier to remove - I noticed that smaller, detached pieces of the branch would break during the removal... Again, I can`t stress enough that my experience is almost non existent!
With all of this said, I want you to take another look at my photos. Despite myself, I managed to produce beautiful manicure. If you know what you are doing, you will fine them very useful. Considering that I have some of them left over, I may gave it another try. I really like image, and I think I would love to use it again sometimes around Christmas time again. You can dot a few berries on the top, an there would be wonderful seasonal manicure...
For all of your beauty needs, go and check Born Pretty Sore, as they carry thousands of different items, and I am pretty sure that you would be able to find something for yourself.
