In my mail from last week from Born Pretty Store I received some pretty water decals, and here is what I did with them.
This is item #23744 , 2 patterns per sheet water decals.
I love this type of decals, where you decide how much of the decal you want/need on your nail, and you also choose width of the decal. You can cut each line and make space in between patterns, or you can do as I did, I just cut a strip of decal that was shorter than my nails. That left some room for me to manipulate them. You can also turn them horizontally or vertically on your nail, what ever your heart desire is at that moment.
As you can see, this sheet came with black and grey colored Aztec pattern, and I decided on black for one reason - I think that grey would be overpowered by my background.
You can tell I really like them. I used black on really bright neon gradient for a summer time design, but honestly, use it against red or white, or a glitter for that matter, this can double as Christmas sweater design in a flash!
As I said before, I cut the strip of the decal that would be shorter than length of my nails, cut up that strip into nail sized pieces, and I removed thin plastic protective film that looks like one that is over temporary tattoo. I put it in the little bit of water for a few seconds, then I slid them from protective background - onto my nail.
Decal is super thin, and I found that this method works best for me, and would prevent unnecessary creasing, and decal folding over itself. Backing will keep decal in nice, straight shape until you decide on best placement on the nail.
For gradient, I used following polishes: OPI - My vampire is buff, China Glaze - Neon&on&on and China Glaze - Rose among thorns.
After I placed decal, I dried it with small piece of paper towel, and using my clean up brush, I cleaned excess decal around nails. Decal act like nail polish, and is really easily removed this way.
I already mentioned that those decals are really thin, and if it happen that you have crease or two, don't worry. That happens to me all the time, because of the way my nails are curved, but you have to trust me on this one - after you apply top coat, no creases will be visible. I think that is the best part of the whole thing.
So, if you are not the stamper type, vinyl's not your style, and freehand is out of question, I would highly recommend those. This is what I call : Minimum effort - Maximum effect!
You don't believe me, here - they said that 'picture is worth thousand words' and you can judge by yourself.
Tribal/Aztec designs are my go-to designs in the summer.
If you never visited Born Pretty Sore, I would highly recommend it. There are some pretty neat things, not just for nails, but also make-up, hair accessories, jewellery and you never know - you actually may get yourself in situation to use my 10% off code SHGK31, and this code is good storewide, for all non-sale items.
Thank you for looking.
