I did took you to Paris in one of my nail escapades, this time - Destination Rome!
How would I like to visit Italy again! I've been in Venice, but would love to see the Rome too. You probably noticed that I like historical places, and Rome is not different. So much history there...
What I like about places like this, is mixture of old and new, side by side, not really devaluating, but enhancing each other. I love to think about it as a place where Gladiators of the old, watching peacefully over modern time city warriors on their Vespa's. Just that mental image puts smile on my face... Luckily for you, I did not leave my day job to pursue writing! :D
I own Pueen Fireworks Festival for almost a year, and ever since I've seen first glimpse of that plate, there is image that reminded me of Roman Arena so much. The place where emperors got entertainment for themselves and for masses - and those must of been some spectacles! That is the reason I went to Rome on this imaginary trip.
All started with applying white - OPI- Put a coat on as a base.
On my ring finger and pinky I smoosed some Revlon - Touch of Mauve, Color Club - Je ne sais Quoi, then I topped it with L'Oreal - Satin sheets - sheer pearly white polish - to soften the look.
For stamping the old part I used Revlon - Espresso. I really like almost antique look of those two nails.
On Index and middle finger I made decal using the same stamping plate and MdU - Black. I think that images of the 'new' part of the Rome look more like something in New York, but I was not even trying to be correct - I just wanted suggestion of the modern part of Rome. I am pretty sure Rome have some tall buildings, and some industrial looking structures. I also added some green for a parks and trees that are so lovingly planted in most of the European urban areas.
In my stash of ever growing custom rings, I found this one that reminded me of a roman coin, and I thought that would nicely tie in with a topic.
